To teach or not to teach? Junior academics and the teaching-research relationship

The global pressure for excellence has boosted the relevance of teaching–research relationship. Specifically, management teaching and research activities represents an important challenge because time resource limitations, especially junior researchers. traditionally polarized streams in literature provide arguments to defend three types relationship between research: conflicting, complementary, or unrelated. Given complexity phenomenon, integrative approach may be useful identifying interdependencies. In this respect, article provides a holistic that includes different drivers distinguishes direct indirect relationships. analysis data from academics Sweden shows workload negatively linked perceived success research, but it can slightly counteracted via teaching. Moreover, findings also indicate individual control collaborative both are positively related while only some sources social support significant.
